For highly absorbent substrates, first treat with Acrylic Binder. Can be tinted with acrylic paint. Dilutable with water; dries water-resistant in a few hours. Can be painted over directly after drying. Process above 10°C.
What can you do with gesso?
Gesso can be applied to canvas, wood, glass, and even metal.
By applying gesso to, for example, glass, you can then paint over it with regular acrylic paint. It is important to apply a protective layer over the painted glass, as otherwise there is a risk that the gesso may come off when cleaning.
You can also mix gesso with acrylic paint. This makes the color of the acrylic paint slightly lighter due to the plaster in the gesso.
Another way to use gesso is to make the paint thicker and thereby add more texture to your painting. One idea is to mix some (used and dry) ground coffee with the gesso and paint. This creates a sand-like, but thick, paintable texture.
